Sorry for the delayed blog post! With the packed day we had today, we hardly had time to keep you all updated! (check back tomorrow to see why our day was so packed)
Yesterday was another gorgeous Maine day at Acting Manitou! Campers had breakfast and warm-ups as usual and then their second Round 2 elective class in the morning. From Blueberry Bonanza to Dance! Dance! Dance!, electives add variety and fun to campers’ days and leave them with new skills to show off at home.
After lunch and a rousing finale to the ping-pong tournament, campers went to their afternoon rehearsals. The shows are really starting to come together, and campers are excitedly preparing for tech week, which begins in just a few days.
After pool time and dinner, we had CIT moments, in which our oldest campers (CITs, or counselors in training) lead younger campers in creating short devised theater pieces. These “moments” are a great opportunity for CITs to train their leadership and directing skills and for everybody to practice working together to craft a beautiful piece of theater without a script!
The evening ended with a huge thundershower, so campers got to wait out the storm in the Pavilion, holding sing-alongs and dancing until bedtime. We’re excited to start our last week of camp– it goes by so fast!
