Hello Acting Manitou Community! Yesterday was a beautiful Manitou morning full of wonderful sun and warmth. We started with a “production call,” in which campers had the option to help out in the theater painting or building with Anthony and Joey, or focusing lights with John. I’ve been personally working on fine line details, helping to teach campers texture design with paint. We accomplished a lot of set work and finished installing and focusing most of the lights.
In rehearsal, we’ve continued with design runs. “The Diviners” and “The Drowsy Chaperone” had us, production staff and tech campers alike, completely amazed with how far they’ve come in the last week and a half. Our wonderfully talented designers continued to work out every detail from costumes and props to set work and paint detail. The tech campers observed their peers in their rehearsal environments and acting elements bringing not only fresh eyes, but an amazing amount of love and support.
After a beautiful waterfront by the pool, with some campers at Zumba, others were stationed at the Ping-Pong tournament watching fellow campers and staff face off in the third round. Our reflection was on how we can make someone smile with simple little things and how that can make their day. After dinner, we boarded the buses to go to the movies. Our movie options were Finding Dory, Secret Life of Pets, Tarzan and the ever popular Ghostbusters. After a popcorn-filled night in front of the big screen, we travelled to Gifford’s for some of the most famous ice cream in Maine. Campers had everything from sundaes to “monster shakes.” It was so great to see everyone have a night of friendships bonding and letting themselves be open and free.
Have a wonderful day!
