Hello readers! I hope everyone had a lovely holiday season with friends and family. As this year comes to a close, I find it important and often inspiring to look back on everything that happened in the past year. For me personally, my year was filled with all kinds of adventures, and exciting changes such as new job opportunities, and of course an absolutely wonderful summer.
One thing I know we all have in common from this past year is experiencing the joy of camp, whether you were a camper, or a visitor on show day, I am certain that however long your stay was, it was filled with joy and laughter, which coincidently is what most of the days at camp are filled with. Every year that I return home from camp I cannot stop sharing all of my favorite stories from the summer with my friends from home, and in turn, I can't wait to go back. Of course I eventually get back into the present moment and am consumed by daily life, but I often find myself reminiscing on simple happy memories from camp when I need something to smile about in the middle of the day. And the thing is, I don't have many people at home I can reminisce with. The Manitou community is a small group in the big world who get to carry these beautiful moments with us in our daily lives, and I know I am not the only one who wishes we could share it with more people; people who are important to us, who we cherish as much as we cherish this sacred second home, as I like to call it. While camp is a sacred place for all of us, sharing that with friends from home can only make the experience better. I personally wish I had brought friends from home with me as a camper, because I carry through my days those memories, but no one to truly relish in them with.
As we move on to a new year, and leave 2015 in the past as nothing but treasured memories, I can't help but think about the excitement of what this New Year will hold. Like always, every year at camp can only keep getting better and 2016 is no exception. While there are many months aways from the actual start of our next session, registration is taking place NOW. In the these days at the start of the New Year, we encourage you to register for camp as soon as possible, but in addition to yourself, think about those I mentioned who are important to you and that you always gush to about camp after every summer and imagine what it would be like with them in it! If you are a returning camper, think about the added bonus of bringing friends to camp next summer!
2016 has a lot of great things in store for all of us, and I believe you have the power to build on these exciting adventures by including friends in your next endeavor at camp! We encourage you to not enter the New Year alone, but to bring your friends, and/or family members along for the ride with you! At Acting Manitou, we want to welcome everyone into our circle. So, remember that as you anticipate the arrival of camp, and think about who you cherish the most out of friends or family who you can also bring to camp with you this year!
We are so excited to see what is in store for 2016.
Happy New Year everyone!
